Our love is imperfect in the most perfect way. It is love done our way. Raw. Unconventional. Sexy as hell. More importantly, it is honest to the core…Or so I think.

One little, white lie shouldn’t do so much damage. Yet, it changes me forever.

The worst part is that Declan whispers that sweet nothing out of protection. My safety is in the forefront of his mind, especially since there are others who’d hurt me simply to get to him. I never consider that he will be the one to cut me so deeply. But it all starts with that first prick—the night he saves my life.

His perilous stare deepened as his grip fastened around my waist. As maniacal thoughts passed over his eyes, his grasp tightened. That look confirmed that I wasn’t the only one who wanted all the space between us eliminated.
could hardly breathe when his gaze fell to my lips. It left me without words. It was the very way a passing glance could leave you speechless. But Declan didn’t just take a glimpse. No, he unapologetically looked me over. He
me in not so many words, but I heard them all the same. I heard them with each moan that echoed in the air. I felt them as he held me gently in his arms. Even if I didn’t feel the desire radiating off of him in a fury of passion, he bore that intensity in his gaze. The world around us melted away until there was only me and

This is a wickedly delicious fairy tale adventure that I really enjoyed reading! The action starts up right on the first page and this is a fast paced tale that doesn’t let up right to the very end. This story ends on quite a cliffhanger as well and I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next! Declan Stilts is a very powerful incubus demon who has never allowed himself to be weakened by forming any serious attachments to anyone else, until now that is. Piper’s life was on the line and he had to make the difficult decision to save her life with a huge cost to himself in the process. Now he’s tied himself to Piper forever and in linking them he has made himself extremely vulnerable in ways he has never been before. Declan, or Rumpelstiltskin as some call him, has formed many formidable enemies over his long life as a demon. Now they are coming out of the woodwork since he’s exposed his weakness to the world and they’re out for his blood.

I loved the dark and twisted nature of this story and how every few pages it would twist in a new and exciting direction leaving me unsure as to where it was headed next. The unpredictability and constant twists and turns made this story much more enjoyable to read for me and I loved it! With regard to Piper and Declan, even though they are very obviously madly in love with each other, I was unsure of how or even if things were going to work out for them in the end and she seems to be in a constant state of love/hate with him and with what she is becoming. While I can understand that anyone would be in a state of distress over the changes she’s currently going through, she did ask for Declan to do this to her and I don’t feel that he deserves to be everyone’s bad guy and scape goat whenever they’re not happy with how things are turning out. I guess you could say that I kind of felt sorry for Declan in a way since that unfortunately always seems to be the case for him.

I really enjoyed the way this story utilized characters from long told fairy tales and twisted them into something so demented they were barely recognizable and hope to read many more of this to come.  This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I definitely plan to read more from her in the future. I highly recommend reading this to anyone who likes their stories a bit on the dark side.
