For a thousand
years the Ilyium druids have hunted the Dracones without mercy.
At seven, in a terrifying moment, Tierney lost her world and fled to Earth,
keeping her true nature secret from humans.
But a nightmarish past is not easy to escape.
Now, years later, that truth is abundantly clear every time she looks into
the eyes of the man she secretly loves, and sees a torment that draws her to
him even as he pushes her away.
Jax battles his desires for Tierney alongside his inner demons, ashamed to
speak of a past he cannot forget.
Frustrated by her efforts to connect to Jax, Tierney is unprepared when the
Ilyium resurface. Ancient instincts triggered, she and Jax are tested in ways
they never imagined. Will Tierney and Jax overcome the legacy of their past, or
will they be destroyed?
Marean resides in western Canada with her husband, three
kids, one dog, one cat, and two fish. Sheri did not grow up thinking she would
one day be an author. Instead, she grew up riding and working with racehorses,
drawing and selling her animal artwork, and of course reading. Sheri fell in
love with reading at age twelve when she read The Black Stallion series by
Walter Farley. She has not stopped reading. With a wide variety of reading
interests, Sheri’s passion presently is the paranormal romance genre. One day,
after reading, she decided she would write her own book, with her own
characters, doing what she wanted them to do. She began to type and the
characters came to life in her head. She has never looked back.
This is an incredibly well written paranormal romance full of non-stop action, tons of amazing supernatural creatures and super-hot love scenes that will have your toes curling. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I can guarantee it won’t be the last! I’m a huge fan of paranormal romance and love all of the creatures in these stories and this one was full of some of the most amazing ones I’ve read about in a while! Tierney is part of an ancient race of supernatural beings called the Dracones who are immortal and live as humans until they go through what is called the awakening when they reach their early twenties. This is when their dragon side emerges and creates noticeable changes in their appearance and enhances their strength and supernatural powers as well. Tierney is originally from another realm and was forced to come to Earth after a brutal slaughter by their enemies many years ago. Tierney is now left alone with two of the brothers she escaped with, Jax and Sami since her father has disappeared and nobody knows where he is or if he’s even still alive. Tierney is falling apart with worry and devastated over the fact that while she is sure that Jax is her soulmate and the man she is meant to be with, he is fighting being with her with every fiber of his being and she just doesn’t understand why.
I loved every single thing about this story and didn’t ever want it to end. Reading about the struggle between Jax and Tierney was heartbreaking to witness, especially once I learned exactly why Jax was struggling so hard against being with Tierney. The things he has been through should never happen to any child, ever and I wanted nothing more than for Tierney to be able to help him to heal from these horrible things and see himself as the worthy male that he is. I loved these two together since I feel that they are a perfect fit for each other and loved how they were each able to provide strength when the other needed it the most. The awakening process is brutal and definitely not something I’d ever want to experience personally, well except for if I was going to be a Dracone. Then I’d consider it a necessary evil and totally worth it. I totally hated the Dracone’s enemy the Ilyium and the methods this group utilize to come after the Dracone are sick and twisted to say the least. This is an amazing paranormal story full of everything a fan of the paranormal could ever want and I loved reading this! I am a huge new fan of this author and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more from her in the future! I highly recommend reading this book to anyone.
