Grisham Abbot thought he had his whole life planned for him: a career in the Navy and a beautiful woman to marry. However, when Grisham loses his lower leg, his career path is altered significantly. He has also lost the woman he was going to marry because she is in love with someone else.
Grisham is haunted by the accident and is struggling to find his purpose in life.
While he is at the beach one afternoon he sees a woman floating in the water. He doesn’t hesitate for a second to jump in and save her. To his surprise, she is his ex’s best friend Greta. He always thought she was beautiful but never really got to know her.
He knows he should stay away, but something that day changed Grisham’s outlook on life. He wants to be the one for Greta but is sure she deserves more than his broken body and mind.
Greta is grateful that Grisham saved her that day. She has always admired him from a far as he was in love with her friend. Greta sees the good in Grisham even if he can’t.
She feels this strong pull and bond with Grisham but is scared to put her heart on the line with a military man. Her mother raised her and her sisters on her own because her father’s job was more important than his family.
The more time they spend together the deeper they fall. Not everyone is happy that they are together and soon someone is in danger.
These two characters were wonderful together. I really felt the chemistry between them. This was a great book. There were lots of steamy moments and some quite suspenseful ones as well.
I really enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one in the series. This author is fantastic. I definitely recommend this series to read!
