Title: Fire & Ice
Series: The Locklaine Boys (Book #1)
Author: Jessica Prince
Genre: Contemporary Romantic Comedy

Pepper O’Malley isn’t one to be toyed with. Fool her once, shame on you. Fool her twice and they’ll have trouble finding your body. She used to dream of white picket fences and happily-ever-afters, but now she lives in the real world. As the saying goes, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, especially when that woman is a redheaded spitfire.

Griffin Locklaine always viewed commitment as a four letter word. He was clear about what he wanted from the start and made no apologies for it. He didn’t care if he came off cold as ice. He lived for his job, his family, and his friends. He had no desire for a relationship. That was, until he saw the once-young-and-scrawny Pepper all grown up.

They’re like oil and water, fire and ice. A volatile combination that should never work together. Unfortunately fate has other ideas. A spark like theirs left ignored has a tendency to burn out of control, leaving everyone to wonder who will be left standing when it finally explodes. Only one thing is certain. When they finally come together it’s going to be epic.

**Fire & Ice is Griffin and Pepper’s story. It is book 1 in a spin off series for characters introduced in Love Hate Relationship. It is recommended you read Love Hate Relationship first**

Beautiful couple on white background.

A sudden bang from the direction of my kitchen caused me to freeze instantly. Sheer panic filled my veins like ice.

Someone was in my apartment.

Holy shit! Someone was in my apartment!

Now, a rational person would have grabbed the phone and called 911. Or at the very least, found a safe hiding spot so as not to get hacked to pieces by a potential ax murderer. But I’d never been described as rational, and my hungover state only made that worse.

Bypassing my cellphone completely, I quietly pulled my nightstand drawer open and reached for my Taser. That’s right. I was a single woman living on her own in New York City. Fuck pepper spray. If someone was going to screw with me I was hitting them with fifty thousand volts. I didn’t mess around.

About The Author

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

This is one of the most entertaining and enjoyable love stories that I’ve read in a while and I enjoyed every minute of reading this! There were so many laugh out loud moments that at points I had tears streaming down my face. The banter between the characters is hilarious and I simply couldn’t get enough of them! Pepper has been hopelessly in love with her brother’s best friend Griffin since she was an awkward teenager and he’s barely even noticed her existence. Four years ago she came across him again when her brother brought him along to the grand opening of her brand new clothing store and he definitely noticed her then. In fact, she ended up giving him her virginity that night and thought things were going to be perfect from that point on. Things didn’t go as planned however, when she woke up the next morning with a note and no Griffin anywhere to be found. She’d officially been ditched and now she was rightfully pissed off beyond belief at the jerk. Pepper’s been hurt pretty badly and isn’t going to make the same mistake of letting anyone else hurt her like that ever again. She’s made a point of pouring herself into her work and keeping it casual to the point of almost non-existent when it comes to her love life. Now the jerk has recently resurfaced in her life and suddenly he’s decided he wants another round with her. Well, first of all, she’s not going to just spread her legs for the man simply because he deems to give her the time of day. Secondly, she really enjoys making him pay for the pain he caused her and is nowhere near ready to stop doling out the punishments anytime soon.

I loved Griffin and Pepper together and they both definitely have fiery spirits and are stubborn as anything. I felt they were a great match for each other since they have a way of getting through to each other when nobody else can. Pepper especially tends to hold everyone at a distance and doesn’t let many people into her inner circle of trust. She lets Griffin in without even realizing it. It’s almost like she’s distracted by the hate fest she’s got going on for him to the point where he’s able to slip right through her defenses. I absolutely loved every single interaction between these two and their banter had me laughing to the point of tears. The more that they went after each other, the more the sparks were being set off and the hotter it got and I loved this! I loved every secondary character here and Tomas is definitely my absolute favorite! I would so love to hang out with that diva and drink some cocktails anytime since he’s one heck of a character. This is actually a spin-off of another story and the author recommends that you read her book Love Hate Relationship before reading this, but I personally didn’t and had no problem whatsoever. To be honest though, I enjoyed this book so much that I’m probably going to go ahead and read the other book now anyway. I highly recommend reading this to anyone and I am very much looking forward to reading much more from this author in the future!
