When my eyes are closed, the monster can’t ever see me.
When I sing a song in my head, the monster can’t ever hear me.
When I pretend my bedroom is a playground where I play hide and seek, the monster can’t ever find me.
The darkness should frighten me.
I should worry I’ll find more monsters…monsters scarier than him.
But I’m not afraid.
It’s safe here.
When I’m inside of my head…
He. Can’t. Ever. Touch. Me.

This is this author’s newest masterpiece and she’s really outdone herself this time! I am a huge fan of hers and she never fails to blow my mind with her deliciously dark creations! She isn’t at all afraid to delve extremely deep into the dark recesses of human nature and I always feel changed after finishing one of her incredibly addictive books!
This one starts off with undertones of dark, but at first felt as if it was going to be a little bit less twisted than her usual work. After really getting into this one I quickly came to realize that I couldn’t have been more wrong if I tried and I was floored by how warped this one truly was! I cannot get enough of this amazingly devious author’s work and she never fails to make me crazy in the best way possible!
This one is a bit difficult to review since as the author warns, it really is best to go into this one with an open mind and completely unspoiled when it comes to the details in order to have the best possible experience while reading this one.
I don’t want to spoil anything here, but will say that this story has so many layers that I really enjoyed watching being pulled back and I highly recommend the experience of reading this amazingly well written book to anyone. I’ll be impatiently waiting for more from this author since she has me hopelessly hooked and always needing more!
