Sometimes your life is split by a single decision.

I’ve spent every day of the last seven years regretting mine: he left, and I didn’t follow. A thousand letters went unanswered, my words like petals in the wind, spinning away into nothing, taking me with them.

But now he’s back.

I barely recognize the man he’s become, but I can still see a glimmer of the boy who asked me to be his forever, the boy I walked away from when I was young and afraid.

Maybe if he’d come home under better circumstances, he could speak to me without anger in his voice. Maybe if I’d said yes all those years ago, he’d look at me without the weight of rejection in his eyes. Maybe if things were different, we would have had a chance.

One regretted decision sent him away. One painful journey bought him back to me. I only wish I could keep him.

*A contemporary romance inspired by Jane Austen’s Persuasion*

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

A THOUSAND LETTERS
Staci Hart

Elliot - Even after 7 seven years, she is still affected by a decision that she wished she didn't make. That one moment in time you wish you could take back but fear too much time has passed.
The only solace she has, is the job she holds at a local bookstore and being the nanny to her niece & nephew. Their unconditional love out weighs being ignored/overlooked by her sister/father. She has had a lifetime of practice.
Her world comes to a halt with one knock at her door.  Rick Winters, a man she considers more as a father than her own has cancer. The family is getting his affairs in order which includes his son Wade. And with that name, the floors fall out from under Elliot.  Just his name alone conjures up more that she can handle, but she will keep her mask up for the sake of her friend.  It's not like she hasn't been wearing the mask that past 7 years.........
A thousand letters unanswered. This should tell her how Wade feels about her.
Wade - Even after 7 years, he is still angry by a decision he wished she didn't make. He trusted her, she betrayed him. Now he is headed back home, for his dying father. Elliot will be there, she is like family. She loves his father as much as him and his sisters. Just her name alone causes emotions out of him he taught he buried years ago. He is use to putting on a face, he will just do the same as well as avoiding Elliot as much as possible.
Can two souls find themselves in the dark murky hell they are both in? Can Elliot see her family &  Wade for who they are?  Is 7 years too much time to mend their wounded hearts? Or will they finally be able to let each other go?
This was such an emotional story for me. I hated Wade (most of the time). I wanted to go inside the story and just wrap Elliot up and protect her.
I don't think any words I put down can express the heartbreaking beaut of this story.  Go get this story!
