Hope

I
followed my best friend to London thinking it would be an adventure
full of excitement and bright lights, only to find myself in a shitty
little corner of the city.

I’m now immersed in a world of bad boys and dirty fights.

My
saviour complex is stretching to Finn West. He’s dark, mysterious,
grouchy, and a fighter. I can’t help but want to push his buttons and
see if I can crack that surly frown into a smile.

Maybe
the connection I feel with him is real, or perhaps it’s just the
fanatical imaginings of a lonely girl, wanting a lonely boy. After all,
who wants to be alone?

Finn

I just want to be left alone, stick to my routine, but no. Hope McGrath sure as hell can’t let that happen.

I
like order, control, I need it. She’s like a tornado of sheer chaos,
trying to rock my very structured life on it’s foundations. She annoys
the shit out of me on a daily basis, but somehow, I’ve come to enjoy her
dragging me to her weekly bingo outings.

No matter how gnarly I am, she always comes back for more with her long legs and her loud mouth.

I don’t need her in my life, even if I find myself thinking about her, her lips, her body…I don’t need her. 🌹🌹🌹🌹

Poppy
Love and war. Two words that should have little association, but to me the two go hand in hand. Both are a tragedy. They rip you open and spit you out. The war killed my husband, Connor, shattered my will to live, and took my best friend. Brandon may not have physically died in that war, but his soul did. And now we’re left to pick up the wreckage. Expected to move on when all that is left is the ruins of a life we once had.

Brandon
War. It took everything from me, even myself. When you’re only able to exist, death seems like a blessing. Pain…a welcome distraction. I ran from everything associated with my past, and then she found me, fighting, drowning myself in whisky, trying to forget. She reminds me of Connor, of what I’ve lost—what we’ve lost. In the midst of destruction, she’s a salvation I don’t deserve.
I shouldn’t love him.
I shouldn’t love her.
Love is a war we never should have fought.

Stevie J Cole

Stevie J. Cole lives deep in the woods of Alabama with her
husband and two precious daughters. She studied Epidemiology concentrating on
cancer research but has always had a passion for writing. Some of her stories
will strip you bare, some will give you nightmares, but the one thing she can
promise is that she will always give you stories that make you feel.

Raw. Gritty. Love.
Because sometimes characters need to be flawed.

P.S. Stevie’s greatest fear is the impending zombie apocalypse. Think about it:
swarming armies of decaying, oozing corpses stumbling around with clicking
teeth, trying to eat your face. Nothing about that is good. NOTHING!
WAR HOPE
LP LOVELL & STEVIE J COLE writing as NICOLE LYNNE

War Hope by Nicole Lynne (writing duo LP Lovell and Stevie J. Cole) is book two in their War series. It picks up some time after the end of War Poppy, but the devastation and grief is still being felt by all. I highly suggest reading War Poppy first.

Hope McGrath followed her best friend Poppy to London because she needed the escape. After being betrayed and left heartbroken, she needed this new start. Except instead of the excitement of being in a new city, she is surrounded by those trying to overcome what happened. She is determined to be there for them. But Finn West wants nothing to do with her. And he makes it very clear. But she is not one to give up easily.

Finn wants to be left alone. He needs his life to be in order and to maintain control. The things he saw during the war haunt him and made him into a man he did not want to be. He lost all that mattered to him and has no idea how to get it back. Then Hope started barging into his life and demanding things. I mean who still plays bingo?

I really liked Hope. She took crap from no one. She was a no-nonsense woman who lived by her rules. But she was also a lonely girl who was heartbroken and trying to find her way. And she was fiercely loyal for those she cared about. And she was determined to be there for Finn. He needed a friend and someone he could count on and she would prove to him she could be that to him.

Though Finn was a jerk to Hope often, I really liked him and felt so sad for him. He was so broken and lost. He continuously pushed her away, even as she began to push her way in deeper. I felt so heartbroken for him. He lost so much since he returned from serving his country. He came off as grouchy and dark, but he really was just hiding from his demons.

Both Hope and Finn were lost and broken. Both trying to run from a past that haunted them, but together they seemed to fill a void for the other. This was a very slow burn romance. Hope pushed and Finn pulled, but they learned to maneuver around each other. But could a heartbroken woman learn to love again? And could a devastated man learn to live again?
War Poppy was heartbreakingly sad that I was actually a bit afraid to read this book. Though not as heartbreaking as War Poppy, War Hope was heart-wrenching and emotional, but also had some very humorous moments that had me laughing out loud. I am looking forward to more books in this series.
