The boy next door. That’s what he was. Dash Frasier—my hero
from the day we met, when I was six and he was nine. His sister was my best
friend, the three of us one happy crew. Then one sweaty summer night changed
everything.
No one understood me like Dash. No one made me feel so
loved. That’s why, when he skipped town, it wrecked me.
Now I’m older. Wiser. I’ve just snagged my dream job,
writing at a film studio. The lead animator on my project?
You guessed it.
He’s not the boy next door. Not anymore.
I’m guarding my heart this time.
But Dash has secrets that could break us both.

The Boy Next Door
Ella James

The Boy Next Door by Ella James is a story about two people who once meant so much to each other, but have since gone down very different paths. When they cross paths again years later, the chemistry is undeniable, but the secrets may be too much for either to handle.

Dash was the boy next door. Her best friend’s brother and the boy she crushed on for a long time. They were friends and always close, Dash, his sister and Amelia. Then Dash goes away to college and the angst begins. They have some back and forth and eventually Amelia is left heartbroken.

Years later Amelia has an opportunity of a lifetime. She is excited, until she finds out who she will be working with. She has a hard time letting go of the hurt she felt towards Dash, but she also remembered the boy she cared so deeply for.

I found Amelia was both strong and weak. She loved Dash so much, she forgave him to easily at times, but also knew what she wanted and did not want to let go. Dash, on the other hand, was sexy, broody, and secretive. You know there is something he is holding him back, but he is not ready to share with Amelia yet.

This story was emotional. There was a lot of push and pull. Together, Dash and Amelia were so hot and steamy, but so much stood in their way. Their journey was sad, emotional and hard at times. I wanted to throttle both of them at times, but sometimes you need to hit the bumps to find the clear path again.
