Author Bio
Mother, reader, storytellerME Carter never set out
to write books. But when a friend practically forced a copy of Twilight into
her hands, the love of the written word she had lost as a child was rekindled.
With a story always rolling around in her head, it should come as no surprise that she finally started putting them on paper. She lives in Texas with
her four children, Mary, Elizabeth, Carter and Bug, who sadly was born long
after her pen name was created, and will probably need extensive therapy
because of it.

Pride & Joie
M.E. Carter

M.E. Carter was a new to me author this year and I loved the first two books in her #MyNewLIfe series. This series is about starting life over after big changes. In Pride & Joie, we have a woman finally going back to school and a man who is learning to live again after the death of his wife. I loved the concept of this book! We get one couple and their lives in different stages as they move forward.

Joie is 42 and ready to go back to school. She has raised her son alone since he was about two and has never regretted her choices. She was the best mom she could be and even if they lived tightly here and there, she moved them forward. But now that her son, Isaac, is grown and in college, she is ready to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. She may be an unconventional student, but she is ready for this new challenge. I loved Joie! She was easygoing, sweet and a very likable person.

Jack Pride is the assistant football coach at the same college Joie attends. His wife died a few years ago and has not returned to dating. He is happy being a coach and having his friends, but when he literally runs into Joie twice, he decides it may be time to finally start. I liked Jack, He was honest and open, if a bit tentative.

I have to say right at the start, I loved that the characters were older. The author did a great job describing what it means to enter the dating world again and how funny and awkward it could be. Both characters were hesitant, but willing to get to know each other.

I enjoyed reading Pride & Joie. It was a sweet and charming story that has me laughing and enjoying all the feels. I loved seeing the couple through the years and how they coped and learned. Though their journey was not always easy, they were so good together! Pride and Joie was a great second chance at love romance!
