Caution on Ice by SR Grey

“Hilarious and perfectly ‘played’ sports romance that I devoured in one sitting! I can’t wait to read more.” – #1 NYT Bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken
“The usual Grey crisp writing, lovable heroes that you kinda want to slap, and a heroine that doesn’t back down,” Resistance on Ice is another fun standalone novel in the bestselling Boys of Winter hockey romance series.” – Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Ilsa Madden-Mills

Caution on Ice by S.R. Grey is the fourth book in the Boys of Winter series, however, it can be read as a standalone. This is only the second book in the series I have read (and not in order) and I did not feel lost at all. This time around we get Dylan Culderway’s story, the team’s top defenseman.
Dylan’s story broke my heart. He has a tragic past and the guilt of it weighs heavily on him. When it starts to affect his time on the ice, his coach suggests a gym that may help him refocus all that anger. What he did not count on was the woman that would change everything. I liked Dylan. He was very protective and determined and what I loved the most about him is he was not a womanizer as most athletes are.
Chloe Tettersaw is looking for a fresh start. She just left a very bad relationship that took so much out of her. It affected her in so many ways and none of them good. She is determined to make the most of this new start and begins working on herself. Part of that is learning self-defense at her brother’s gym, the same one Dylan is now attending. I liked Chloe. She was hurt, and her self-esteem took a huge hit, but she was determined to overcome this and be the woman she wants to be.
Both Chloe and Dylan have pasts demons that haunt them. When they meet, they feel a strong attraction, but determine to be friends. However, they quickly see they have great chemistry and more in common then they could ever imagine. Can they find love with each other or will their pasts ruin any chance for them to be happy?
Though this is classified as a sports romance, there is more happening off the ice than on. While Dylan and Chloe begin their new relationship, a past comes back to haunt her. Will Dylan be able to protect Chloe, or will history repeat itself?
