Katherine Gates has been in love with Cash Greer since the moment he saved her life from a runaway goat. According to Cash, she’s the little sister he never had, the greatest roommate in the world and his favorite coworker. They’re friends—best friends.

In the dark days of her youth, it was her friendships that kept her alive and made life in a junkyard worth living. So she’s learned to shove her feelings for Cash down deep, even if that means ignoring eyes that shine brighter than the Montana summer sun and the smile that illuminates the snowiest winter day.

Except with every passing year, the denial takes its toll on her wounded heart until one day Katherine decides to take an impulsive road trip to the Oregon coast. Alone. That is, until Cash cons his way into the passenger seat.

The farther they travel, the harder it is to pretend. And when she confesses her feelings, she learns that Cash has some secrets of his own. Secrets that will either bond them together.

Or rip them apart.

“Why did you turn the air on?” she asked, looking above us to the open air.
“I’m hot.” Desperate. What would it take for her to put on a goddamn sweater? “Are you wearing sunscreen?”
“Uh, no.” She gave me a sideways glance. “Why?”
“You’re going to get burned.” Get the sweater, Kat. You know you want to.
“I’ll be fine. At the next gas station, I’ll grab a bottle for us.”
Us. Why did that word sound so serious? It wasn’t the intimate kind of us. There was no us. Not in the couple sense of the word. Did I want there to be an us?
That lightning-fast internal response nearly had me slamming on the brakes, turning this car around and going back to Montana, where the world was normal.
Kat was my friend. My best friend. Roommate. Coworker. Pseudo sibling. There were days when I’d trade Easton for her permanently. Okay, any day. There were plenty of ways to label our relationship and us was not one.
I could not—would not—tear down the boundaries that nearly a decade and firm family reminders had put in place.

When I first started this series, I fell in love, and as each book in this series releases, I fall even more in love. I love the concept and the how the the overall plot line keeps going with each interconnected book. I love how even with that one plot line, it leads to so much more than what I bargained for. Quarter Miles is the one book, that I have waited on. I couldn't get Katherine out of my head since her appearance in Wild Highway. I've wondered and wondered how her story would play out, and Perry delivered her story on a silver platter.

Now to the goodies. For starters, I absolutely adore the relevance of the title. The title matches the book to a T. It goes hand in hand, like peanut butter to the jelly. This friends to lovers book pulled at my heart strings, and that is a testament to this authors writing capabilities. From the great world building to the originality, this author showed no bounds. The development was on point. The depth, boy the depth. Perry went there. She dug DEEP, and I felt it. The dialogue was brilliant; from the wittiness, to the back and fourth banter it was on point. Now on to the chemistry / connection. Um, hello! The build up to that, was on another level. (fanning self)

Katherine. I have to start her first, because she's been with me a long while. I freaking adore her. This brown haired, blue eyed tiny woman is one of a kind. Her work ethic is insane. Her people skills? Just like the daggone pope. Her kindness and loyalty is what truly makes her who she is. She is patient and understanding. Crap, I could keep going and going.

Cash. His name alone is HAWT! This cowboy adores animals, especially horses. He showcases kindness, and patience like it's his job. He is understanding and so dang protective, ( almost like a guard dog). This family oriented man, loves life.

What happens when two best friends have the open road to look forward to? Is there a possibility of something more than friends?
