This was my first Lila Monroe book and I just have one question. Why did I wait so long? I thought this book was perfect. The characters, side characters, plot line, everything!!! When Nate and Julia wake up in bed together on the first page with no memory of their night together I knew I was in for one heck of a ride! I feel hard and fast for Nate and his glacial stare and Julia with her quirky inner monologue. Sassy, sexy, sweet. It's got a little bit of everything.
While I was reading this book I was trying to decide if I was in love with Vegas or if the thought of visiting terrified me. Because it seems that, well, anything CAN happen in Vegas. From an impromptu striptease to a kidnapping by the Russian mob (not really) and a spontaneous birdnapping, we get a taste of all the things that could go wrong, or right, depending on your perspective.
Nate is a divorce lawyer in town for his best friends wedding. Julia is a Romance author attending a writers convention. When they literally run into each other in the hotel lobby they can't seem to get away fast enough. Julia thinks Nate is a big jerkwad and Nate thinks Julia is ridiculous with her purple suitcase. I mean, who carries a sparkly purple suitcase? A meeting later at the hotel bar and a shot of tequila is just the beginning of a night they will never forget. Or will they? I mean, does anyone remember much after a night spent with a bottle of Patron?
I really did love everything about this book. From Julia's nerdy references to Dr Who to Nate's cynical attitude and constant scowl. It was funny and sweet and sexy as hell!! These two were so much fun and I'd love nothing more than to hang out with them. I'd like it even more if Julia would be my BFF!!
In the end this book was the perfect RomCom. It was full of hilarious moments and OMG shenanigans. Nate eventually turns his scowl into a blinding smile with a hot body to match. He proves that lawyers aren't all stuffy and he, in fact, is anything but. He's sweet when he wants to be but, more importantly, he's a freak in the sheets...or the janitor's closet!! One can't be too picky when in Vegas. And his mouth? Well let's just say he has no trouble in the dirty talk department. And Julia learns that the romance she writes in her books isn't always what every woman REALLY wants. You don't need the guy running after the plane as it taxis down the runway. Sometimes what you get in real life is better!! I just have one thought as I finish this up. I hope Pebbles is happy in his new home.
If you are in the mood for a good laugh and some super hot sexy times then this is the book for you!! I'm so glad I took a chance on this author and I can promise that this is just the beginning of what I know will be a long and laugh out loud relationship.
