Love can be as sweet as honey, or it can sting like a bee.

Bo Smith knows that if you go looking for honey, you get stung, so he has his life just how he wants it. No hassles, no complications, and no heartache. As the handsome high school athletics coach, he would be the pick of the small town he grew up in…if he was into commitment, or dating…or even calling back. But he has sworn off anything resembling a future and his mind isn’t going to change.

Then his eyes lock on the new girl in town…She’s beautiful, intelligent, and full of surprises. Just the kind of complication he has been avoiding.

Sophia Brown is looking for the sweet simple life. She has it all planned out. Getting used to life alone isn’t easy, but she has her garden, her bees, and her dog Triton to tend to. It’s the fresh start she’s been dreaming of, surrounded by nothing but open fields to stare at all day.

Nothing at all…unless you count the high school football team and their distractingly handsome coach, practicing right across the street.

But when sparks fly, Bo must choose between the sting of his past or the sweetness of the future.

He may just find that honey tastes good on everything.

Honey Bee
Heather Shere

What do you do when everything you never wanted moves into your town? Honey Bee by Heather Shere gives us the story of Bo and Sophia and how they find what they were least expecting or ready for. But maybe just what they needed.

Sophia Brown was ready for a change. Alone, except her beloved dog, King Triton (Triton) and her bees, she moves to a small town and. Ready to start over, she builds a garden and works on her homemade goods. With Triton’s continuous shenanigans, she begins to get to know the people in town. Even as some want nothing to do with her or her dog.

I loved Sophia. She was sweet and had a good heart. Though she has suffered loss, she did not let it get her down. She worked hard, loved her dog and moved forward. She had a good head on her shoulder and never backed down. I found her very likeable.

Bo Smith lives with choices that left him full of guilt. Determined to never hurt anyone else or himself again, he lives his life with no commitments. He does not need any complications of any kind in his life. He is a good guy, but makes no promises and no repeats. He is content and nothing will change that.

Then one day the pretty new resident that just moved in across the high school where he coaches needs his help. One look and he knew he was in trouble. He wanted nothing to do with her or her dog. But life does not always work the way you want it too.

Sophia and Bo start spending time together and their attraction cannot be ignored. Though Sophia senses Bo’s reluctance, their friendship grows and Bo slowly begins to open up. But will his deep-rooted avoidance of relationships and commitment tear them apart? At times, I wanted to shake some sense into him. He was his own worst enemy.

I loved, absolutely loved Triton! He was everything! He had me laughing out loud continuously. And his antics with Bo were hilarious. Bo’s reaction not so much, but we come to understand him a little bit more as we continue to read.

In the end, Bo will need to decide if Sophia is worth losing or fighting for. I loved the romance and the angst just about killed me, because it could have been avoided. But in the end, this is Bo and Sophia’s story and well worth the read.
