Cash’s POV“Stay.”

It’s uttered so quietly, I assume she’s dreaming. Without turning to look at her, I take another step out of the room.

There is a desperate sound in her tone that seizes my heart and traps the air in my lungs. Turning back, I go to the side of the bed and crouch down, so I’m eye-level with her. Softly, I push the hair off her forehead and hold her gaze. All her defenses are down. If a person’s eyes are windows to their soul, I feel like I’m seeing into the depths of her. Seeing all the broken pieces.

“All right, baby girl, I’ll stay.”

I don’t know where to start. This book was raw and emotional. I was intrigued the minute I read the blurb for this book. I had to read it. And it did not disappoint. It makes you look at the dark and how it affects those around it. It makes you think and feel and hurt.

Ryann broke my heart. She is haunted by the horrors and tragedies of her past, but determined as well. And though she tends to be weary and keep others at arm’s length, she moved on, or tries too, but the past is always close.

I adored Cashel Donovan. Though he had his own hurt, he was determined to be there for Ryann. He was sweet and caring and had me swooning. And though he was determined to avoid relationships, he also knew he could not let her get away again.

What do you do when you come face-to-face with your past? When that past held your first kiss? When all you want is to protect yourself and your heart? This story take us on their journey, through loss and hopelessness. At times my heart just broke.

Ryann and Cash knew each other when they were younger. Reunited unexpectedly years later, they remember each other fondly.  However, the past and time in between has left a mark on both that is not easy to let go off.

This book drew me in from the prologue and would not let me go. In a persons’ life, there could be tragedies and hurt and lies, but sometimes love is what you need to show you the way. That one person can grab hold of you and just know it will be okay.
K. Street gave us a story with so many emotions and twists, but also allows you to see how letting someone in when it’s one of the hardest things to do, can just give you everything you ever wanted or needed. I highly recommend reading this book and I know I will be following this author work in the future.
